Elk Grove Community Food Bank Services and Kaiser Permanente teamed up to launce “Fit Fusion,” an 18 week Youth and Family Fitness Program designed to address the problem of childhood obesity.

Fit Fusion was established in 2005. The program is four days per week (Monday through Thursday) immediately after school. Each year 10 participants are selected from a local middle school in the Elk Grove Unified School District.

The participants are selected from a pool of applicants. Each participant has to sign a contract pledging their commitment to the program. Additionally, the participants’ parent or guardian have signed a similar contract, which include their participation once per week for family meetings.

Fit Fusion ends on July 4 th with youth and other family members participating in the 5K “Run 4 Independence,” at the Elk Grove Regional Park.
